About me
I trained and qualified as a counsellor/psychotherapist at Greenwich University where I achieved a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling. During that time I volunteered with a charity that supported those with addictions and mental /emotional health challenges. My volunteer work was an exceptional foundation for my therapeutic work as it gave a vast wealth of human experience for me to reflect on and work with.
My heart is in the beliefs of Humanistic Therapy which understands the power that we hold to heal ourselves. This belief will be felt in my approach, which aims to help you grow the ability to lead the life you choose and determine your future. Understanding human nature and how we relate is the key to many of our distresses and a fascinating way to unpick the puzzles of our lives.
Over time I have developed a wider understanding of the needs of those coming for therapy so with further training and guidance I now include other elements like CBT, mindfulness, psycho-education and Rewind Therapy. Our understanding of human struggles continues to rapidly grow and provides further guidance into our needs as human beings, and these developments I follow with an absolute passion, with the view that all understanding advances my ability to help those in distress.
Until recently I spent many years supporting mainstream children, and those with special educational needs, in a school setting. Being involved with families and encouraging the development of children in their own individual ways has given me huge insight into the challenges, and joy, that families share.
